In Broward County, a man has died following an apparent shooting in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon.

Fort Lauderdale Police received a call just after 1 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 1400 block of Northeast 57th Street. Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered evidence of a shooting, and the victim had been transported to Imperial Point Hospital. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department later confirmed that the victim succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Doorbell video from nearby residences captured the moments when the assailant opened fire in the neighborhood, with the sound of gunshots echoing throughout the footage.

Matthew Berry, a resident, shared his account with CBS News Miami, praising the quick response from law enforcement. “Earlier this afternoon, I came out and wanted to make a turn on the street right here, and I was blocked off by a firetruck, first of all,” he said. “And then, I could see police cars here on this particular block, blocking it off, and then, tons of police cars racing to the scene in probably 15-20 different police cars from all directions.”

No other victims were found and three people were detained. However, no arrests have been made at this time.

Officers are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting. If anyone has any information regarding the case, contact FLPD.
