ESTERO, Fla. — The vacant lot at 9600 Corkscrew Road is slated to potentially transform into a 13,000 sq/ft daycare facility.

Palms Day School is seeking approval for a development order from the Village of Estero. Meanwhile, The Goddard School is also eyeing construction of a two-story childcare center near Three Oaks Parkway, Estero Village, on Quente Way.

Victor Claar, a professor of economics at FGCU, noted, “Childcare costs have escalated, which is just one aspect of a broader issue.” He attributed the rising costs to inflation, impacting expenses like housing, childcare, fuel, and groceries.

The potential increase in childcare options could alleviate financial burdens for parents. Claar remarked, “Inflation has affected households universally, necessitating monthly expenditures.”

The Estero Planning, Zoning, and Design Board has already provided developers with input regarding the architectural design of the buildings.

The proposed design for the Goddard School for Early Childhood Development features a two-story building spanning 14,330 square feet. Additionally, plans include the incorporation of a playground.
