CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Mariner High School’s Army JROTC cadets clinched the National Championship title at the JROTC National Air Rifle Competition held in Camp Perry.

The team achieved 1st place out of 29 teams in the Sporter Division, showcasing exceptional marksmanship skills and teamwork, according to the US Army Cadet Command.

According to organizers of the JROTC National Air Rifle Competition, top talent from across the nation participates in the event.

Mariner High School’s JROTC marksmanship team entered the competition less than four years ago.

“The victory of Mariner High School underscores their emergence as a formidable force in the realm of JROTC air rifle competitions,” stated the US Army Cadet Command.

In addition to clinching the overall Sporter Division competition, cadets from Mariner High School also secured notable placements in the individual category.

Cadet Elyssa Vazquez claimed 3rd place in the Sporter Division, while Cadet Nathan Krokstrom secured 7th place in the Sporter Division.
