In Immokalee, Florida, cattle paraded through the streets on Saturday as part of the annual Immokalee Cattle Drive and Jamboree.

Established in 2018, this yearly tradition aims to honor the ranching and agricultural history and future of Immokalee. The cattle journey down Main Street, concluding their route at the Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch, a former farm listed on the National Register of Historical Places.

The jamboree, a highlight of the celebration, showcases local animals, businesses, and various activities such as roping, whip cracking, alligator wrestling, traditional Mexican dancing, and representation from the Seminole tribe.

Hosted by the Collier County Museums at Robert’s Ranch, the event emphasizes the significance of Immokalee’s history and current culture, including the migrant community. Each year, a local ranch is honored, and the Priddy Family of JB Ranch is the 2024 honoree.

Attendees, like the O’Leery family, appreciate the opportunity to delve into Southwest Florida’s history. “We just wanted to experience the old-school part of Southwest Florida, you know, really exploring the agricultural aspect, and this just seemed like a great event to check out.”

The Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Roberts Ranch remains open year-round for those interested in further exploring the region’s history.
